Grand Sport Legend

The Grand Sport legend began in 1963, when Corvette godfather Zora Arkus-Duntov ordered up five hand-assembled prototype race cars designed to take on all comers. The newest chapter starts now, with the introduction of the 2010 Grand Sport Coupe and Convertible. Under the Z06-inspired wide-body styling, Corvette Grand Sport bristles with race-bred technology.

Grand Beginnings

The original Corvette Grand Sport was the product of an intense factory effort to defeat purpose-built North American and European competitors on race tracks around the world. The cars were engineered for ultra-light weight with an extensive use of aluminum, and featured an early use of 4-wheel disc brakes. A production run of 125 Grand Sports was originally planned, but only 5 prototypes - 3 coupes and 2 roadsters - were ever actually built. All 5 are still in existence. Not surprisingly, they're highly prized by collectors and valued in the millions.

Racing Improves The Breed

The Corvette Team took that truism to the next level. They didn't just race. They won, over and over again, against such formidable competitors as Ferrari and Aston Martin, at gruelling events like the 24 Hours of Le Mans. They made Corvette the dominant racing sports car of its time. Then they took everything they learned and set about building something special. They specified the best of everything - the most powerful small-block V8 in history, high-tech Brembo® carbon ceramic brakes, custom-developed Michelin® Pilot Sport 2® tires, the works. The result is the ultimate road-going Corvette of all time: ZR1.

Corvette Convertible

Corvette Convertible gives you all the style and excitement of Corvette Coupe and adds the sun, the sky, the moon and the stars. Weather protection comes via a standard manual top that features a single-handled double latch for easy operation. If you prefer, the available power top goes down in just 18 seconds without ever requiring you to leave the driver's seat. Both tops are designed to minimize turbulence when raised, for reduced wind noise in the cockpit. Corvette Convertible also features a secure trunk with enough room for two full-size golf bags - even with the top down.

Corvette ZR1

To fully appreciate Corvette ZR1, you have to drive one. Here are a few facts to whet your appetite. ZR1's exclusive 6.2L LS9 V8 is equipped with an intercooled four-lobe Eaton® Twin Vortices Series™ supercharger. Outputs are 638 SAE-certified horsepower with 604 lb.-ft. of torque, the most of any Corvette ever. For strength and reduced weight, the roof, roof bow, rocker extensions and front splitter are made of carbon fibre. The Brembo carbon ceramic brake rotors are almost 50 percent lighter than equivalent cast-iron units. For 2010 there's also a new five-mode performance traction management system that integrates the Magnetic Selective Ride Control® suspension, traction control and Active Handling systems to optimize acceleration.
